The 50th Anniversary Commemoration
Marking 50 Years—and Looking to the Future
Join us as San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina, and other officials gather at on-site to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Friendship Park. Fifty years after the inauguration of the surrounding area as California’s Border Field State Park, leaders from both sides of the border are renewing the hope that someday this location will become “International Friendship Park."
Elected officials in the U.S. will be invited to share their reaction to the proposal put forth by the Friends of Friendship Park and architect James Brown as part of the BUILD THAT PARK! campaign. This event is for REGISTERED GUESTS ONLY. Also note that San Diego Border Patrol has denied our request for access to federal property for this event, so there will be no opportunities for attendees in the United States to visit through the border wall with family and friends in Mexico.
