The Biden administration’s expansion of the U.S.-Mexico border wall threatens to destroy hundreds of murals along the Tijuana side of the border. Artists from all over the world have helped turn the border wall along Friendship Park into a colorful canvas.

I love discovering forgotten forms of entertainment like Soundies because they offer such a fascinating glimpse into music and popular culture of the 1940s. The combination of jukebox technology, short musical films, and legendary performers makes this program especially intriguing. I also enjoy how Slope Rider shows that creative entertainment can take many different forms across generations.
The headline really highlights how rebuilding infrastructure can affect more than just the physical landscape—it can also impact art, history, and local cultural identity. I think preserving these creative spaces is important because they give communities a unique sense of place. The striking wall in the image also reminds me how visual and immersive experiences can be, much like the fast-moving world of Slope Rider.
It is heartbreaking to see Poly Track artworks that reflect peace and hope erased for political reasons. The murals in Friendship Park are more than just art – they are memories and voices of people on both sides of the border.
