Birthday Border Bash! Pachanga periférica en la playa (papalotes y pastel)

Sunday August 8 · 11:00am - 1:30pm

Is your birthday in the summer? Come celebrate with Border encuentro! We'll sing las mañanitas and make a special birthday kite made of recycled material for every body who has a summer birthday. If it's a good day we'll fly them all in unison! Bring all your friends and celebrate across barriers at the beach party birthday border bash!

Come spend your Sunday hanging out making friends!

Vengan a pasear en la playa el domingo con viejas y nuevas amistades.

Bring your favorite dish to share and a recyclable plate for birthday cake!

Lleva tu plato favorito para compartir y ¡un plato reciclable para el pastel!

More logistics:

1. The event is inside a large cement circle that brings people together through the border fence. It is a protected area that is designated for binational friendship.
2. This is a Potluck, so please bring a dish that is easy to carry
3. ARRIVE EARLY - There will be a 30 min walk coming from the US side to get the park/celebration spot , so get there around 10:15am and bring good walking shoes for
the beautiful walk on a path through a natural estuary and along the beach.
4. There is a pre-meeting spot (recommended if you've never been before) we'll meet there at 9:30a.
5. For directions to pre-meeting spot or to go directly to meeting spot from either side of the border go to:  http://www.bordermeetup.org/pages/home_01.html
6. Bring a plate for birthday cake!!

Join us as we gather on both sides of the border again this year at Border Field State Park to celebrate Christian hope, hospitality and unity.  In the contemporary practice of the Mexican church, we celebrate hospitality with a party as there was no room in the inn for Jesus.  In the ancient practice of the Church (Works of Mercy), we specifically take time to mourn for those who have died crossing the border.  See below for more details.

This year's theme for La Posada Sin Fronteras is "Jesus, Mary and Joseph: Presente!"  We will sing, hear guest speakers and celebrate the reconciliation that God brings to the world through Christ’s birth, even in the face of false borders that separate us.

Join us from 3pm-dark at Border Field State Park on Sunday, Dec.13.

Participants should dress warmly and be aware documents may be checked on entering and exiting park. It also involves a walk of about three quarters of a mile each way to the posada site.
